Okta Bellevue

Celebrating the Pacific Northwest

The design for the new Okta office in Bellevue is a direct response to the Pacific Northwest's diverse landscapes, translating the region's natural beauty into a dynamic, multi-zoned workplace. The core concept, "A Postcard from the Pacific Northwest," is a narrative framework that guides the material palette, environmental graphics (EGD), and spatial programming. Each distinct zone within the office is dedicated to a specific regional landmark, creating a cohesive and immersive user journey.

The spatial strategy divides the floor plan into four primary zones, each with a unique atmosphere. The reception and boardroom evoke the majestic scale of Mt. Rainier, employing reflective finishes and bold color schemes to create a sense of grandeur and a play on atmospheric perspective. The open office to the north draws inspiration from the Cascade Mountain Range and The Gorge, featuring a high-energy, "road trip" aesthetic with vibrant colors and interactive wall graphics. In contrast, the southern open office area is a more tranquil "heads-down" zone inspired by the San Juan Islands, with graphics that abstractly represent ferry routes and marine activity to promote a sense of calm.

The project seamlessly integrates experiential design into the workspace. The cafe and game room are a playful interpretation of the Olympic Peninsula and Hoh Rainforest, using a deep, lush color palette and graphic motifs to create an engaging environment. A speakeasy area "DB Cooper Hideout," offers a more intimate, thematic space for social interaction. Consistent wayfinding and environmental graphics are woven throughout the entire project, reinforcing the regional narrative and ensuring a unified aesthetic that is both functional and visually compelling.
